Self Assessment Readiness Tool™ for Physiotherapists

​Physiotherapists work with clients to remedy impairments and promote mobility, function, and quality of life. Their work includes health promotion, disease, injury, and disability prevention, restoration and rehabilitation, and maintenance and support.

This tool is designed to help you understand the requirements for employment in Canada. It describes what you are required to know and to do. It outlines the competencies, knowledge and skills that you must have to work in Canada.

This tool contains 3 parts:

Part 1- An Overview of the Canadian Model of Physiotherapy Practice
Part 2- Scenarios and Practice Descriptions for Canadian Physiotherapists
Part 3- Competency Assessment 

Once you have completed this tool, you may find that your skills and knowledge are more aligned with an assistive level profession. If so, please refer to our Self Assessment Readiness Tool™ for Physiotherapist Assistants.

This tool is meant to be a guide for your personal use. Your answers to questions will not be recorded or evaluated by anyone other than you. This tool does not provide any assurance of your ability to obtain employment in Canada. It will not be used by any regulatory bodies in Canada to determine your eligibility for registration.  There is no link between completion of this tool and formal licensure or certification.
