Self Assessment Readiness Tool™ for Physiotherapist Assistants

Physiotherapist Assistants must work under the supervision of a physiotherapist who is licensed to practice in Canada. The physiotherapist assistant performs tasks assigned to him/her by that licensed physiotherapist.

This tool is designed to help you understand the requirements for employment in Canada. It describes what you are required to know and to do. It outlines the competencies, knowledge and skills that you must have to work in Canada.

This tool contains 3 parts:

Part 1- An Overview of the Canadian Model of Physiotherapist Assistant Practice
Part 2- Case Scenarios and Daily Workplace Descriptions
Part 3- Competency Assessment 

This tool is meant to be a guide for your personal use. Your answers to questions will not be recorded or evaluated by anyone other than you. This tool does not provide any assurance of your ability to obtain employment in Canada. It will not be used by any regulatory bodies in Canada to determine your eligibility for registration.  There is no link between completion of this tool and formal licensure or certification.
