Self Assessment Readiness Tool™ for Mental Health Workers

Mental Health Workers in Canada assist clients with support services. Support may be provided in a variety of settings such as acute care, community residential, educational, vocational, crisis centers, crisis hotlines, community outreach services and transition services.

This tool is designed to help you understand the requirements for employment in Canada. It describes what you are required to know and to do. It outlines the competencies, knowledge and skills that you must have to work in Canada. 

This tool contains five parts:

Part 4- Scenarios for the Role of a Mental Health Worker in Canada
Part 5- Competency Assessment 

This tool is meant to be a guide for your personal use. Your answers to questions will not be recorded or evaluated by anyone other than you. This tool does not provide any assurance of your ability to obtain employment in Canada.  It will not be used by any regulatory bodies in Canada to determine your eligibility for registration.  There is no link between completion of this tool and formal licensure or certification.
